THE OLD BLACK BILLY ANí ME

The sheep are yarded, aní I sit

Beside the fire aní poke at it.

Far from talk aní booze oí men

Glad, Iím glad Iím back agen

On the station, wií me traps

Aní fenciní wire, aní tanks aní taps,

Back to salt-bush plains, aní flocks,

Aní old bark hut be the apple-box.

I turn the slipjack, make the tea,

Allís as still as still can be -

Aní the old black billy winks at me.
