Vonda Stanley's collection of early Australian bush poems

GOBLIN GREEN

A ring around the moon,

A ring on the grass

Patched grey and white

As the sailing clouds pass,

Whisperings here, murmerings there,

The blackberries rustle

With rabbits a-bustle

And silver moths flutter the ghostly still air.

A goblin in russet,

A faery in blue,

Leprechauns leaping

The breaming night through;

Pirouettes bright, minuets light,

And bush flowers sending

Sweet messages blending

With all the pale glory of midsummer night.
